The Working From Within 2010 – Report on the Status of Women & Youth in Iran
(6 months to 1 year after the uprising):
January to September 2010
After the June 2009 Iranian presidential election, protests against the regime erupted across the country. Despite the mass uprising by the population, it was not enough to recount the votes or hold another election. This resulted in the government cracking down on demonstrators so harshly and began a rash of widespread executions and torture of dissidents.
This study compiles reports from Iranian state news outlets, human rights organizations aboard, and victims’ stories as told by their families …
covering the horrific accounts of the maltreatment of political prisoners, the tragic executions of innocent lives, and the tactics of suppression & violence against women and ethnic minorities. Additionally, as 2010 marks the year of the highest imprisonments, torture, execution and ill-treatment, several charts were created to document those occurrences.
Words and pictures cannot depict the pain the victims have suffered; hopefully with your support this publication will bring the voices of oppressed in Iran to the attention of the American and international public.
